Kristin Veitch
Columnist, E! Online
She can't quite pinpoint when it happened, but she traces it back to Aaron Spelling, sometime when
Ronnie Reagan was President and Joanie still loved Chachi. In fact, to this day, she's haunted by flashes of Saturday nights spent gazing at the TV--Rice Krispies treats and Capri Sun in hand--enraptured by the The Love Boat and Fantasy Island.
A true product of Hollywood--her mother was a costume designer on Charlie's Angels, her father a janitor at the Merv Griffin Theater--Kristin attended high school at Hollywood High, where she rubbed noses and traded Cliffs Notes with past, present and future stars of the little screen. There, she rejected pom-poms and student government in favor of quality time with the Cosbys, the Seavers, the Keatons, the Drummonds and other beloved faux families.
The Cliffs Notes must have helped. Kristin graduated unusually high in her class and chose to attend the vaunted University of California, Burbank, to stay close to her beloved NBC Studios. She became a studio-audience regular, with a particular affinity for Seinfeld, and spent her evenings boning up on Melrose Place and Home Improvement. She was the only student at UCB; she graduated with a Master's in Must-See TV.
Ms. Kristin now specializes in all things tube and has, over the years, developed a vast network of highly informed sources. Thus, her wealth of knowledge extends far beyond the average viewer's--even far beyond most network execs.
She also enjoys reading and working out (there's a TV at her gym). Her favorite book is Don Delillo's White Noise. Her favorite shows are Larry Sanders repeats, prehaircut Felicity and...whatever is on tonight. She loves TV and, contrary to popular opinion, thinks there's always something good on.
